Experiences from Italy
Hi!I just came back from Italy – my second home I could say. This time I spent some time in Rome and in Tuscany. I have been living in Rome and visiting in Tuscany many, many times. I have some friends living in Southern Tuscany, in Sovana which is a very small village. The area is known of it’s Etruscan origins and era. Around Sovana there are several excavations still goin on where visitors are able to get to know about Etruscan lifestyle.Sovana is not only about history and Etruscans. I could consider it fantastic place to spend some time where time is endless, moment is moment. I call this “Slow Travel”. This means for me something with authenticity, local, possibilities to do what you want, sustainability, going back to the experiences with people of their daily life. For example in Sovana you could go to the Saturnia hot spring which is free of charge! Of there you can do local cooking with Sovanian people, or take care their garden with them, of as I did last time in Autumn I was helping to harvest olive trees. Accommodation is mainly with local homes, bed and breakfast where half or full board is available. There is one four star hotel located in Sovana centre. I visited there this time and the garden looked amazing.I put here a link of Grosseto province where Sovana is also included. If you need assistance or help, contact me. http://www.provincia.grosseto.it/pages/mm1634.jsp
