The EU recommends opening the borders to 15 countries from 1.7.220

 

The EU has now officially announced the 14 + 1 countries to which the EU’s external borders will open today, 1.7.2020. However, it is good to remember that, nationally, EU countries can decide on a timetable for removing restrictions for these countries as well. For example, in the case of European countries, the Finnish government announces 10.7, and it is desirable that a position be taken with non-EU countries.

The countries are as follows:

Algeria, Australia, South Korea, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Morocco, Montenegro, Rwanda, Serbia, New Zealand, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay were added to the list. The fifteenth country is China, to which borders will open if Europeans are reciprocally admitted to China. Both mainland China (Dalu) and Hongkong have low number of infected people vs. their population size.

For Baltic and Nordic countries perhaps countries such as China (including especially Hongkong), Australia, South Korea, Japan and Thailand are the ones which are most important target market areas. 

Wondering why there is Taiwan not included? Hopefully “politics” between EU and China is nothing to exclude Taiwan because it’s virus cases are very below even the standard 8/100 000. EU use standard 20/100 000 which means that there should be less than 20 infections/100 000 people. Here Canada can be seen easily one of the approved candidate. If using Finnish government standard 8/100 000 then Canada would be dropped from the list.
