We end the Asian review period today – infection rates have doubled in a month

We end the Asian review period today. We have been monitoring the rates of COVID-19 infections for 35 days while testing in those countries. In Asia, infection rates have doubled in a month. The most difficult situation is now in India.

For a few countries, we do not understand the decisions of the EU and the Finnish authorities, which is why, despite extensive testing and low infection rates, those countries have not been among those to be accepted for Travel and external border controls to be abandoned. These include e.g. Bhutan, Brunei, and Jordan.

The situation with China is also problematic, because the opening of borders to Europe also depends on how China admits European citizens. This also seems to be linked to the situations in Hong Kong, Macao and even Taiwan.

The green color mainly indicates that the country has viral infections below the limits set by the Finnish government. The red color, in turn, indicates that the infectious is more than the limit values ​​define. The Finnish government set a limit of 8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Blue indicates countries with either inconsistencies in testing relative to population or low number of tests (less than 3% of the population).
