NEW LEGISLATION FOR CROSS-BORDER TRAFFIC IN FINLAND

Finland is changing travel regulations in connection with border crossing. Originally, this law was supposed to be ready on November 23, 2020. Now during Statement Periond, statements can be issued from 10 November to 23 November. 2020. After that, the intention is to submit the government’s proposal to Parliament on 3 December 2020.

The doctor responsible for infectious diseases could decide to quarantine a person for up to 10 days
if this is necessary to prevent the spread of covid-19 disease. This could happen under certain conditions
when a person arrives in Finland from a country or other geographically limited area where:

the incidence of covid-19 cases in relation to the population during the last 14-day follow-up period is at least twice as high as in Finland (10.11.2020 it is 53 to 100 000 population; so countries over 106 new infections to 100 000, are considered high-risk countries), and
the proportion of those infected in the population can be estimated at at least one in a thousand; and
of which arrival in Finland poses a significant risk for the spread of covid-19 disease

The countries and regions would be regulated by a Government decree valid for a maximum of one month
at a time. In the case of the Winter Fun Workshop, the situation from 16 December to 24 December 2020 is
significant in relation to the countries of origin.  A person would not be placed in quarantine if he or she has

a reliable doctor’s certificate of sick but cured, OR
laboratory-confirmed covid-19 disease OR
a certificate of covid-19 vaccination upon arrival in Finland.

LENGTH OF STAY IN FINLAND
Less than 72 hours = you participate in workshop only

A person could not be quarantined if the stay in Finland lasts for a maximum of three days, if he or she
carries a reliable certificate of a negative corona test no later than 48 hours before the start of the trip
or if he or she immediately participates in a negative coronavirus test when arriving in Finland.

4 – 6 days = you participate also Pre and Post Tours
Quarantine would also not be imposed if the stay in Finland lasts 4-6 days, and if he or she carries a reliable
certificate of a negative corona test performed no more than 48 hours before the start of the trip and enters
another coronavirus test immediately upon arrival.

QUARANTINE

Quarantine can take place in the accommodation, if there is one and it is suitable for quarantine. That is, as a rule, in accommodation.

COVID-19 TESTING EXPENSES FOR VISITORS

The tests are, in principle, free of charge for tourists when those are made in Finland.
