ITB China 2026
Why ITB China and the Chinese outbound market matter
According to the ITB China Travel Trends Report 2025/26, China’s outbound travel market is rapidly rebounding. With over 100 million Chinese expected to travel abroad by end of 2025 and a market volume forecast to exceed CNY 1 trillion (≈ €120 billion).
In parallel, Chinese travelers’ intentions to travel outbound remain high — a survey from April 2025 indicates 75% of respondents were interested in travelling overseas this year or had already done so.
The demand from China is shifting: younger generations and “active seniors” are key segments, interest in more personalised, higher-quality travel experiences is growing — and business + leisure travel (bleisure) is emerging strongly.
All of this underscores why the Chinese market is an important strategic target for inbound tourism destinations and service providers.
