This diversity creates excellent opportunities for FIT travel, small private groups, family travel, special-interest programmes, incentives, celebrations, wellness journeys and tailor-made high-end itineraries.
Easy Travel Across the Baltic & Nordic Region
Another important advantage is that all eight countries are part of the Schengen Area. Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are EU members, while Norway and Iceland participate in Schengen although they are not EU members. This generally makes a multi-country Baltic–Nordic itinerary considerably easier from an immigration perspective: once a traveller has legally entered the Schengen Area, travel between these countries normally does not involve routine immigration controls, although temporary internal border controls can occur.
For travellers who require a Schengen visa, one short-stay visa can generally cover travel throughout the Schengen Area. Short stays are normally limited to 90 days within any 180-day period. Visa requirements depend on the traveller’s nationality, and longer stays are governed by national rules.
For non-EU travellers, the Entry/Exit System (EES) is now fully operational. Since 10 April 2026, it electronically registers short-stay non-EU travellers crossing the external borders of participating European countries, including travel-document and biometric information, replacing traditional passport stamping for travellers covered by the system.
ETIAS is separate from a Schengen visa. It is intended for travellers from visa-exempt non-EU countries. As of September 2026, the European Commission says ETIAS is not yet operational; earlier official guidance indicated a planned start in the last quarter of 2026, but the EU has not yet announced the exact launch date. This is particularly relevant for a January 2027 event, so participants should check the official ETIAS information shortly before travelling.
