A practical travel guide prepared for participants in ToolBox Consulting’s Latin America Tour 2027.
The information is primarily intended for Finnish citizens travelling with an ordinary Finnish passport. Entry requirements may differ for citizens of other countries.
Tour itinerary: Guadalajara, 5 April → Mexico City, 6 April → Bogotá, 8 April → São Paulo, 12–15 April 2027.
1. Guadalajara, Mexico – 5 April 2027

Passport Must be valid throughout the stay. At least six months’ remaining validity after the trip is recommended.
Visa Finnish citizens generally do not need a visa for short tourist or ordinary business visits that do not involve paid employment in Mexico.

Distance to city centre Approximately 20–25 km; 30–60 minutes by car
Weather in April Daytime +29–33°C, nighttime +12–16°C. Generally sunny and dry.

Tipping Generally 10–15% in restaurants; 15–20% for excellent service
Business hours Shops typically Monday–Saturday 10:00–20:00; shopping centres also open on Sundays. Banks often Monday–Friday 09:00–16:00.
Food culture: Guadalajara is famous for birria (spiced meat stew), torta ahogada (a sandwich soaked in spicy sauce) and traditional tacos. The state of Jalisco is internationally known for tequila and mariachi music.
Travel tip: Use official airport taxis or pre-booked transfers. Uber is widely used in the city.
2. Mexico City, Mexico – 6–7 April 2027

Weather in April Daytime +24–28°C, nighttime +10–14°C. Mostly dry, with occasional afternoon showers.
Currency Mexican peso (MXN)
Currency exchange Airport exchange offices, banks and authorised currency exchange offices
Tipping Usually 10–15% in restaurants; hotel staff and guides are tipped according to service
Business hours Shops generally 10:00–20:00/21:00. Restaurants often stay open late. Banks mainly operate on weekdays.
Food culture: Mexico City is one of the world’s most exciting culinary destinations. Local favourites include tacos al pastor, mole, chilaquiles and freshly prepared tortillas. The city also offers a wide range of excellent international restaurants.
Travel tip: Mexico City is located approximately 2,240 metres above sea level. Allow time to adjust to the altitude, avoid excessive physical activity on the first day and drink plenty of water. Traffic congestion can be severe.
3. Bogotá, Colombia – 8–11 April 2027

Visa Finnish citizens generally do not need a visa for tourist or ordinary business visits of up to 90 days.

Distance to city centre Approximately 12–16 km; 30–75 minutes by car, longer during rush hours
Weather in April Daytime +17–20°C, nighttime +8–11°C. April is part of the rainy season.
Currency Colombian peso (COP)
Currency exchange Authorised exchange offices (casas de cambio), banks and shopping centres
Tipping Restaurants commonly suggest an optional service charge of approximately 10% (propina).
Business hours Shops generally 09:00/10:00–19:00/20:00; shopping centres often 10:00–21:00. Banks mainly Monday–Friday 09:00–16:00.
Food culture: Bogotá is famous for ajiaco, a traditional soup made with chicken, potatoes and corn. Other specialities include arepas, empanadas and tamales. Colombia is also internationally renowned for its high-quality coffee.
Travel tip: Bogotá is located approximately 2,640 metres above sea level. The climate is cooler than in many other Latin American cities. Bring a warm jacket and an umbrella. Use hotel-arranged transportation or reputable transport apps.
4. São Paulo, Brazil – 12–15 April 2027

Weather in April Daytime +24–27°C, nighttime +16–19°C. Occasional rain showers.

Tipping A 10% service charge is commonly included in restaurant bills. Additional tipping is generally unnecessary.
Business hours Shops often Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:00; shopping centres 10:00–22:00. Banks generally Monday–Friday 10:00–16:00.
Food culture: São Paulo is Brazil’s culinary capital. Popular dishes include feijoada (bean and meat stew), pão de queijo (cheese bread), churrasco (Brazilian barbecue) and pastel (a crispy fried pastry with various fillings). The city also has strong Japanese and Italian culinary traditions.
Travel tip: São Paulo is a vast metropolitan area where traffic congestion can significantly affect travel times. Allow plenty of time for transportation during World Travel Market Latin America.

Time differences are based on Finnish daylight saving time and apply to the four cities included in the tour.
Currency exchange and payments
International credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, shopping centres and larger restaurants in all four cities. However, carrying a small amount of local currency is advisable for markets, small shops and certain transport services.
We recommend withdrawing local currency from ATMs located inside banks or shopping centres.
When paying by card or withdrawing cash, always select the local currency rather than accepting an automatic conversion into euros, as this may help avoid unfavourable exchange rates.
Important travel preparations
– Passport: As a practical precaution, ensure your passport remains valid for at least six months after the end of your trip, even though the legal requirements differ between the three countries.
– Visas: Short tourist and ordinary business visits are generally visa-free for Finnish passport holders. However, verify the requirements for commercial activities, trade fair participation and exhibiting.
– Entry requirements: Keep copies of your return or onward flight tickets and hotel reservations readily available. Check the latest requirements concerning Colombia’s Check-Mig form.
– Health: Check recommended vaccinations and any yellow fever vaccination requirements applicable to your specific travel itinerary.
– Safety: Avoid hailing random taxis on the street and carrying large amounts of cash. Use hotel-recommended transportation services.
– Travel insurance: Ensure your policy covers business travel and any optional excursions.

Venue: Expo Center Norte

The exhibition centre is located in the northern part of São Paulo. Allow approximately 30–60 minutes or more for transfers from Guarulhos International Airport, depending on traffic conditions.
