TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Thailand

To enter Thailand, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive and have at least 1 blank page. Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

On August 23, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Thailand announced that they are accelerating the implementation of a new system, a new travel requirement for visitors to Thailand, that would introduce a mandatory requirement for all tourists once operational. Starting in December 2024, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system will be introduced and all foreigners looking to travel to Thailand under the visa exemption scheme will be required to enroll in it from June 2025 onwards.

The ETA was announced alongside the Thai government’s plan to expand its visa exemption and visa-on-arrival programs to include additional nationalities. Given that this will potentially lead to a massive influx of visitors to the Kingdom, the government is implementing this and other public security measures to better track foreigners without a registered visa.

Vietnam

A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
A visa or e-Visa, if required for your nationality. Some nationalities are exempt from visa requirements for short stays.
A return or onward ticket may be requested by immigration or the airline.
Depending on your arrival airport, you may be asked to complete a digital arrival card or health declaration before arrival.

Malaysia

All foreign travellers are allowed to enter Malaysia regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status and do not require a pre-departure or on-arrival COVID-19 test. There are no quarantine orders related to COVID-19 enforced by the Malaysian Government upon arrival.

All foreign travellers must meet the following requirements before entering Malaysia:

Have a passport that is valid for more than 6 months upon arrival in Malaysia.

• Obtain a visa if you hold a passport of a country that requires a visa to enter Malaysia
• Obtain a legalized statement from your GP if you are bringing medication that falls under the “opiumwet” “Malaysia Dangerous Drugs Act”.
• Possess a ticket to a third country or a valid return ticket, as well as enough cash to cover your expenses while visiting Malaysia.
  Fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) 3 days prior to your arrival
• Refer to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department’s Traveler’s Guide for information on dutiable goods and tax rates.

Singapore

A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
A visa, if required for your nationality.
A completed SG Arrival Card (SGAC) submitted online within 3 days before arrival.
Proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds may be requested by immigration officers.

FLIGHTS

Note: Please arrange your travel to arrive in Bangkok on 11th October and depart from Singapore on 17th October. We can provide contracted rates for any pre- or post-stay extensions to the participants closer to the date.

Recommended departure: 08:00–10:00 AM
Flight time: Approximately 1 hour 40 minutes
Airport in Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), depending on the airline.
Airport in Ho Chi Minh City: Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)

Distance to the airport (Bangkok)

From central Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi: 30–40 km, typically 40–60 minutes by taxi (longer during rush hour).
From central Bangkok to Don Mueang: 20–25 km, typically 30–50 minutes.

When to arrive

International flight: Arrive 3 hours before departure.
Flight 2: Ho Chi Minh City → Kuala Lumpur (Morning)
Recommended departure: 08:00–10:00 AM
Flight time: Approximately 2 hours
Departure airport: Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)
Arrival airport: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL)

Distance to the airport

From District 1 to Tan Son Nhat: 7–9 km, usually 20–45 minutes, but traffic can make it longer.

When to arrive

International flight: Arrive 3 hours before departure.
Flight 3: Kuala Lumpur → Singapore (Morning)
Recommended departure: 08:00–10:00 AM
Flight time: Approximately 1 hour 10 minutes
Departure airport: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL)
Arrival airport: Singapore Changi Airport (SIN)

Distance to the airport

From Kuala Lumpur city centre to KLIA: 55–60 km, typically:
45–60 minutes by KLIA Ekspres train.
60–90 minutes by taxi, depending on traffic.

When to arrive

International flight: Arrive 3 hours before departure.
General recommendations
Morning flights are generally more punctual and less affected by delays.
Check in online 24 hours before departure whenever possible.
Have your passport and any required visa or e-visa ready before arriving at the airport.
Keep some extra time if traveling during weekends or public holidays, as traffic can be heavier.
